(Post from my old site I found interesting from Feb 26, 2013 - I hope you enjoy!)
Through learning hypnosis, I was taught an interesting technique which involves taking a client into their past lifetimes, simply called, Past Life Regression (PLR). A process by which the individual under hypnosis is guided back in their minds to another lifetime which may be hundreds, if not thousands of years ago - when they had another body and social identity to go with it. This process uses the deeper part of the subconscious to experience what happened in that life while maintaining complete safety.
The theory behind PLR is that our soul moves from life to life, being born and journeying through life up to the body's eventual death, then entering into the next birth/death cycle in another body.. and repeat. Information from these past lives can be stored in our subconscious. It is a proven fact that our subconscious records every single minute detail of our current life without forgetting anything - it is simply our conscious mind's filtering of 'level of importance' that makes us forget - putting these details into the hazy background of our mind. Under hypnosis information may be brought to the forefront again, even if the conscious mind had originally filtered the details.
Much about ourselves may be learned by, in turn, learning about various past lives we have had. We may have issues that are very difficult to deal with in the present, that actually began several 'past lives' ago, of which we continually hold onto. By using PLR, it is possible to take an individual back so they may gain knowledge and properly deal with their 'unfinished business' - business which may affect them negatively to this day. (Note: by no means am I implying that all problems and issues are due to past life events!)
In the future, I will create my own CDs so others may enjoy the experience and put themselves through a form of self-hypnosis in the safety of their own home. A guided meditation of sorts for information gathering in and of past lives.
I performed a past-life regression on myself using a track from a CD that came with the book "Healing Your Past Lives" by Roger Woolger, Ph.D. The third of four tracks from the accompanying CD, and it was a comfortable 10, or so, minutes long.
My PLR experience... The CD's guide first invited me to imagine traveling the world - to places whether I've been there physically or not. Through that mental travel, I am asked to pay attention to those places I enjoy visiting, and, noting those places I totally despise visiting. Both extremes would hold something for me.
As I roam floating around, I find myself touching down in Norway a long time ago. I 'enter' my body of the era. I look down to see a type of fur lined boot on my feet, hide wrapping around my arms (ridiculously massive arms I might add!) with fur trim around my shoulders (a cape?) - Very Viking-esque I notice. I manage an 'outside look' of myself, I appear to be in late 40's to mid 50's with long hair and lots of facial hair - brown/blonde with what seems like grey showing. Looking further away from me, I notice I am by a shoreline, snow and ice abundant everywhere - and it is snowing quite a bit at this time. A viking ship is just a little ways off shore with the crew coming on land as I watch. I can see faces and features so well (a time I wish I kept up with portrait sketching!). Not sure if I am greeting them there after their return, or I am first off the ship to usher them towards, what I recognize as, the direction of the village. As they pass me, I looking out and upwards, a blizzard is coming inland as the snow intensifies greatly. I notice something come out of the water below/behind the viking ship, looking almost man-made, but the scene switches to the next guided details too rapidly.
At the request of the CD's guidance, the scene switches to a happy celebration of sorts. Not sure how long after/before the previous vision - it is not snowing and it is night time, large fires in various areas of a clearing - where there is no fire, it is pitch black! Many sitting around - male and female. Food being passed around (huge chunks of meat and wooden bowls with a thick mush in it). I get another outside look at myself. I am glossy-eyed with a blank stare reflecting the firelight. One would think this is due to the apparent alcohol of the era, but I feel it is more from deep thought about something else. Feel a physical pain in my right side - waist level. This was felt both 'then' and now in that area.
Scene switches, once again of the CD's guidance, to the death of myself in this era. This switches more to an outside view of myself. I am laying on a cot with very thin clothing on - what I am wearing almost reminds me of pajamas. A wrap around my waist with blood spot on the right (same area as pain felt at 'celebration' scene). There is a woman here, though I don't see her, I can feel her presence in the corner of the room. Shortly after entering this scene, I cross over and float upwards experiencing the death at the CD's request. Floating upwards, looking back to see my body. Then upwards I see the full glory of Valhalla, but as I approach it shimmers and fades out and I go into spirit world - more like what people have described when they have near-death experiences and come back. There was no fear, but I felt very tired, but relieved. I found this scene quite interesting. With each culture's view of where an individual goes after death, and in this case, the expectation is somewhat met, only to shimmer out to the view of the spirit world altogether. Maybe this is due to my current knowledge of this spirit world, or maybe that's what happens. I really don't know, but it is interesting none the less!
Thank you for reading! My intention is to create a few PLR CDs for both a short session (overview) and a longer session (more in-depth information gathering). I will post when they are done if there is an interest.
